Privacy policy
This policy explains what the Couponuts browser extension ("Couponuts", "we") collects, why, and what we do with it. Couponuts does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email or payment details.
What the extension sends to us
- The domain of the page you are on (for example
shop.example.com), so we can check whether we have coupon codes for that shop. We do not send the full address, page content, form data or anything you type. - An anonymous install ID — a random identifier created when the extension is installed. It is not linked to your name, email or Google account.
- Usage events: that coupons were shown for a shop, that a code was copied, and that a shop was opened from the extension. Each event contains the install ID, the shop and coupon IDs, and the time.
- Shops you follow and your push subscription, only if you turn on notifications for a shop. The subscription is a technical address provided by your browser so we can deliver the notification.
What we use it for
- Showing coupon codes for the shop you are visiting.
- Sending notifications about new codes for shops you follow.
- Counting how often coupons are shown, copied and used, to keep the list useful and to fix broken codes.
We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising profiles or credit decisions, and do not transfer it to third parties except as described below.
Affiliate links
When you copy a code, the shop opens in a new tab through our partner (affiliate) link. The shop or affiliate network may set its own cookie to attribute a purchase, and we may receive a commission. This never changes the price you pay. Cookies set by shops are governed by their own privacy policies.
Who processes the data
- Our server, hosted by DigitalOcean.
- Our coupon and affiliate partner platform, which receives the shop domain to look up coupons.
- Your browser's push service (for example Google Firebase Cloud Messaging in Chrome), only if you turn on notifications.
How long we keep it
Usage events are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted or aggregated. Follows and push subscriptions are kept until you unfollow, turn notifications off, or uninstall the extension.
Your choices
- Turn notifications off at any time from the extension or your browser settings.
- Uninstall the extension to stop all data collection.
- Email care@couponuts.com to ask for deletion of data linked to your install ID.
